Great descent in a very beautiful setting!

This tortuous serpent-like climb out of Nans-les-Pins is a little gruelling in parts but is well worth the effort. It is a wonderfully traffic-free, well paved climb through a rocky terrain with great vistas. At its end, I turned left towards Mazargues parallel to St Baume along a fast, newly resurfaced road, which is slightly undulating and again is free of traffic. This area in the shadow of St Baume seems to have it own micro climate with clouds seemingly just out of reach! I did a great loop starting in St Maximin.

A real surprise! In this easily accessible cave on the banks of the Calamy river you will find very beautiful concretions! You have to take the detour! Be careful to get there you have to go down to the water's edge and come back to the path afterwards, otherwise it's complicated to get back to the path afterwards!

Very lovingly designed, probably private, agricultural museum. The center is a "bee enclosure", high walls enclose a terraced area where the beehives were placed to protect them from the wind. Then there is a charcoal burner, the remains of a lime kiln and a water wheel. You walk through the site on a predetermined path.
