The Riederstein (1207m) is a rock spur that can be seen from afar, approx. 150 meters above the Galaun Alm with the mountain inn there. Anyone who completes the well-known Stations of the Cross with its 14 display panels of Christ's suffering from 1897 and its approximately 500 steps definitely deserves a reward. The view of Tegernsee and the surrounding mountains from the small platform behind the chapel is definitely a worthy compensation for the effort.

The Riederstein (1207m) is a rock spur, approx. 150 meters above the Alm Galaun with the mountain inn there. When approaching from the Süßbach hiking car park, we recommend the T2 forest management route, the much better alternative to the signposted forest road. There are also several route variants between Galaun-Alm and Riederstein. We walked up the well-known Way of the Cross with its 14 display boards from 1897 on the Passion of Christ and its 500 steps.

Waterfalls can be reached in 10 minutes from the car park. The hiking trail always runs directly uphill along the falls.

Anyone can climb up to the first waterfall without hesitation. Even with children. However, to complete the Josefstaler waterfall circuit, I recommend sturdy shoes, as the path is very well trodden and very slippery, especially in damp weather.

A nice destination for a relaxed winter hike from the Schliersee.

Attention on the next hike: a nice round to get used to at the beginning of the year; At the beginning of the route the ascent from the parking lot to the Gindelalm is missing - back then there was no network down in the valley !! But well worth the effort when the weather is nice!
