The museum's unique layout consists of six historic, restored vessels permanently resting on dry land and linked together by walkways. Its crown jewel is the S.S. Keenora (built in 1897), Manitoba's oldest preserved steamship, which was pulled from the Red River and dragged across the park's grass in 1973 to be preserved here. Visitors can also explore the 1915 vessel C.G.S. Bradbury, a fishery patrol boat and lighthouse tender whose sturdy hull let it double as an icebreaker, famously plowing through ice in 1917 to deliver doctors and medicine to a settlement struck by a flu epidemic.

The riverside path offers an open, unobstructed view of the water, especially near the boat launch and dock area, where boats, canoes, and kayaks regularly come and go.
