The parking lot for this trail is located at Tromostovje (Three Bridges), the confluence of the two streams, the Mlinca and Žakelj. Years ago, there were three small bridges here, and the place was named after Ljubljana's landmark, Tromostovje, or Three Bridges. Turn left at Tromostovje and cross the Žakelj. A wider, marked trail continues on the other side of the stream. Soon it turns right (toward Kepa), but you continue west along the stream. After about 10 minutes, you come to another confluence of two streams; turn right toward the gorge of the right stream, the Kloma Gorge. The gorge is beautiful, but the path through it is not very obvious. As you climb the gorge, you repeatedly move from one side of the stream to the other. When you reach a small waterfall, you have reached the end of the gorge. We turn left, then keep right and continue along the path to the pasture at Žakljev rovt. We cross the pasture in a northwesterly direction and cross a stream near a spruce tree, then continue through the forest until a large grassy meadow opens up before us. We hike uphill; at the top of the meadow is the Stanč saddle at 1274 m. From the saddle, we continue straight ahead; the path is barely visible. From here, the path climbs to the Šija 2 saddle. The path first climbs and then descends to a scree slope, then climbs steeply over loose gravel (caution is advised here, especially on the descent) to the Šija 2 saddle at 1362 m. From Šija 2, we continue along the eastern side of the ridge to the Šija 1 saddle. From Šija 1, we follow the densely wooded ridge to the summit of Borovlje at 1476 m. A magnificent view of the villages of Dovje and Mojstrana rewards us for the effort of the climb. On the way back, we first descend to the Šija 2 pass. Here we turn east and follow a pleasant forest path back to the confluence of the streams (at the entrance to the Kloma Gorge). Then we continue along the Žakelj River back to Tromostovje. WARNING: The trail is unmarked – be careful. Satellite signal in the gorge is weak, and after heavy rain, it is impassable.

I was up there on Monday, May 19, 2025. Very friendly host, and the conditions were excellent. Prices were very reasonable compared to Austria. I'd love to come back. Tour guide NF Walding
