Königssee is a mountain lake located largely within Berchtesgaden National Park. Nestled between the steep slopes of the Watzmann and Hagen Mountains, this elongated lake, along with the smaller Obersee lake to the southeast—around which the Steinernes Meer forms the valley's edge—has a fjord-like character. From the Königssee parking lot, a path leads past picturesque boathouses into the national park. Past the former Café Malerwinkl, the walk leads to the so-called Malerwinkel (Painter's Corner). This hike is also very popular as a winter walk, as the path to Malerwinkl is cleared and gritted during these times.

E-bike charging stations for Bosch and Shimano bikes, and a power outlet for your own charger. The food is excellent, and you can sit outside with a fantastic view.

It gets quite steep at times, but the trail is well-maintained, and quite even. Often used by cyclists as well as hikers, so just be aware that there will likely be people around you moving at different speeds.
