The Sacred Heart statue was placed in 1925 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Carolus Josephus Wilhelmus van Winkel (1843-1927) as pastor in Schaijk. The statue was initially located at the intersection of Pastoor van Winkelstraat and Runstraat. After a serious accident in May 1956, in which a car was pushed against the iron fence around the statue by a truck, it was decided to move the statue. It was placed in the square next to the Antonius Abtkerk.
