⛪️The Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit⛪️ was built in 1966 in Emmerich am Rhein, Leegmeer district, commissioned by the Diocese of Münster. ⛪️The interior is characterized by six mushroom-shaped canopies of varying heights. ⛪️The altar is divided into two parts and symbolizes the "Table of the Word" and the "Table of Bread." Both parts of the altar consist of seven-ton blocks of Carrara marble. ⛪️The 640 m² wall paintings are particularly striking. The artist Fred Thieler created them using abstract, colorful muslin canvases with pouring and troweling techniques. Blue tones are dominant. ``` ⛪️The seven-meter-high and nine-meter-wide monumental cross dominates the liturgical center. It is made of scrap steel from a wide variety of sources, hence the name "Scrap Cross." ⛪️Like the cross, the five-armed bronze chandelier in Baroque style is also by Waldemar Kuhn. ⛪️In 1989, a freestanding bell tower was erected after several years of fundraising.
