Stenio Melani
September 6, 2026, Colle di Gritta Pass

The Colle di Gritta (or Colla di Gritta) is an important mountain pass and hiking and cycling junction located at 331 meters above sea level, in Liguria, which connects the area of Monterosso al Mare with Levanto and the Cinque Terre National Park.

An Aperol to take to the viewing terrace makes for a nice break.

Nice campsite, the pitches are a bit small and the passages narrow but that's normal in Liguria. It seems quite shady, it is well maintained and clean. As already mentioned, it has a super location, it is very close to the center of Levanto and the sea and 1 km from the station. Too bad about the price, in November €45 for two people and electricity. Perhaps the only one open so late in the season.

Levanto Castle was a defensive building located between Salita San Giorgio and Salita al Castello in the southern part of the historic center of Levanto, in the province of La Spezia. The site is part of the town's ancient walls. HISTORY: According to some historical sources, the existence of a defensive building in the then Levanto village was documented and confirmed as early as 1165, during the Malaspina rule in the area. Around the 13th century, a document attests to its presence under the name "Castello di Monale." The current building, however, dates back to the rule of the Republic of Genoa, and therefore to the second half of the 16th century[1], perhaps a reconstruction from scratch on the site of the pre-existing medieval castle; the reconstruction of the town's old walls is documented. With the creation of the Captaincy of Levanto in 1637, it served as the temporary seat of the Captain and, subsequently, as a prison until the fall of the Genoese Republic under Napoleonic rule in 1797. In the second half of the 19th century, it was sold to the state and, after conservative restoration between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, it remains privately owned today. Bonassola, with its clean, wide sandy beach and crystal-clear waters, is considered one of the best beaches in Liguria and an ideal destination for swimmers and snorkelers. https://www.cinqueterre.eu.com/de/bonassola

The Bonassola-Levanto Tunnel is a disused railway tunnel that has been converted into a pedestrian and cycle path. This path stretches for approximately 5 km and connects the coastal towns of Levanto, Bonassola, and Framura. It offers a pleasantly cool and traffic-free alternative to the winding coastal roads.

Bike rentals possible starting from Framura. Don't forget your swimsuit to take a break in one of the coves along the route. Very cool temperature in the tunnels.
