Andrea und Huskys 🐺
July 18, 2026, Schrannenplatz mit Bäckerbrunnen

Since May 2013, the Bäckerbrunnen (also called Brotbrunnen) has adorned Schrannenplatz in front of the former granary. The fountain is entirely dedicated to the theme of bread. Three bronze figures, symbolizing the journey of grain, are enthroned on a stylized sheaf of wheat: a farmer with a flail, a miller with a millstone, and a baker with a bread peel. Bronze sacks of grain, which serve as seats, lie around the fountain. The Bäckerbrunnen was designed by the sculptor Josef Walk from nearby Roßhaupten.

The Lech River has always been Füssen's lifeline. At the Lechfall, the Lech River pours over a barrage built in the 18th century into a narrow gorge before flowing past Füssen in a wide channel below the narrows. Impressive high-water marks on the western bank document the power the river develops, especially after the snowmelt begins in the early summer months. We really liked this route because the Ach flows through the streets almost like in Holland and is crossed by bridges again and again. An ice cream at Otto's Eiscafe rounds off the route perfectly.
