The Balver Kulturhöhle impresses right from the first step: a gigantic natural dome, up to eleven meters high, which has been used since the Old Stone Age and is today considered an extraordinary event venue. Where Neanderthals and cave bears once found shelter, you can now experience concerts, theater, and the traditional Schützenfest (marksmen's festival) in an acoustics that is second to none. The cave is only accessible as part of events or guided tours, but a glance at the mighty entrance is enough to reveal why it fascinates as Europe's largest open hall cave. https://www.sauerland.com/de/neusta-pois/balver-hoehle-europas-groesste-kulturhoehle

Nice little café with changing cake specialties and lunch menu. Very friendly hostess! Only open on Saturdays and Sundays! Highly recommended! It is a bike-friendly business with a pump and tools for cyclists. More information at https://mellener-landmarkt.de/

On the edge of the Balver Wald forest, Schloss Wocklum lies like a quiet ensemble of moats, courtyard buildings, and baroque facade. The traditional estate, with its old avenues and the nearby Luisenhütten area, appears as a calm counterpoint to the surrounding high-altitude trails. It is a good choice for an atmospheric stopover - steeped in history, rural, and wonderfully embedded in the Sauerland cultural landscape.

Just behind the Luisenhütte in Wocklum, there is a natural Kneipp facility in the Borkebach stream, along the footpath and cycle path. There's a metal rack for shoes and socks, and you can hold onto the railings to avoid falling into the water while doing Kneipp therapy. Water treading is said to stimulate the circulation and promote arterial blood flow. The cold stimulus causes the superficial blood vessels to contract.

Even though the Luisenhütte Wocklum is only open from May to October, it's worth the detour. While you're walking around the complex, you can recharge your bike battery for free.

just do it. Very relaxed cycling. The inclines are easy to manage with an e-bike. District, country and federal roads are mostly squashed and not used. I just liked it.
