The Ziegelei Schütte AG Heisterholz was one of the most important brick manufacturers in Northwest Germany at the beginning of the 20th century. The company shaped the region and its people, especially in the Minden area, to this day. Houses and street names, among other things, bear witness to this. The products, bricks, were used in buildings throughout the entire North German region. Finally, it also shaped the family of the entrepreneur Ferdinand Schütte. He laid the foundation stone for the Heisterholz brick factory 150 years ago. Renate Nöller, the founder's great-great-granddaughter, traces this history in the following article.

Beautiful view of the Weser from here

The traditional brickworks at Heisterholz is still better known (since its takeover by Ziegelei Braas) under its former name "Tonwerk Heisterholz" or "Tonindustrie Heisterholz." For us cyclists, the view from the former jetty to the Weser River and the Weser floodplains is, of course, much more interesting and beautiful than the view of the factory premises (as is evident in the vast majority of photos). But please proceed with caution and maintain a safe distance from the edge of the quay wall!

Here, you have a great view of a roof tile factory. Right from the start, you notice that a lot of heat is used here. Then there's the roof tile exhibition and the large "Braas" lettering.

The Schlagde was formerly a landing place for ships, where goods were loaded. Minden had the right of staple in the Middle Ages, so goods had to be unloaded and displayed here. It could/had to be sold. Today it is used as a large parking lot, but is scheduled for redevelopment.
