The cycle path along the 188, which Marco missed, now exists and is as smooth as a baby's bottom, it rolls nicely, but the path via Höfen is of course much nicer because it's practically car-free. Nevertheless, please don't cut corners. A car (or larger equipment (tractor)) does come along sometimes.

The Postmeilenstein in Gifhorn is a small but interesting historical monument from the time of the Electorate of Hanover. Tip: Best to include it briefly on a walk through the city center – it appears inconspicuous, but is particularly worthwhile if you are interested in old postal and transport routes. Good as a short photo stop, but rather not a place for a long stay.

The Aller meanders very naturally through the city. Especially beautiful are the Aller meadows (Allerwiesen), which invite you to take long walks. If you like it sporty, the Aller cycle path (Aller-Radweg) is ideal – it leads you directly along the water through the varied landscape of the Südheide.

The wooden bridge is certainly an eye-catcher when I drove over it on my road bike. Would the wooden planks of the wooden bridge have been more enjoyable than the smooth surface of the car bridge?
