Worth a visit if you are lucky enough to arrive at an opening time, the little church (deconsecrated) is truly a little gem.

The Altötting Chapel and Holy Sepulchre are remarkable religious buildings of the 17th century. They were built by Georg Paprion, an innkeeper from San Candido, who, after a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 1653, decided to rebuild the Church of the Holy Sepulchre on a small scale. Two decades earlier, he had already built the Altötting Chapel, an exact replica of the Chapel of Grace in Altötting, Bavaria. While the Altötting Chapel faithfully reproduces the Chapel of Grace, the Holy Sepulchre represents the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem in miniature.

The Church of San Leopoldo in San Candido was built by the Franciscans between 1693 and 1697 and consecrated by the Prince-Bishop of Brixen that same year. It was designed by the Franciscan friar Vitus Rastpichler, who gave the church the simple and unpretentious character typical of the order—without a tower and without elaborate decorations. Inside, there is a high altar with a painting by Christoph Unterberger depicting Mary with the Infant Jesus and Saints Leopold and Francis. The furnishings are complemented by fine wood carvings by local artisans and statues of Saints Bonaventure and Charles Borromeo by the sculptor Johann Paterer.
