This is not a medieval town hall, but a relatively modern administrative building. After reunification (1990s) it was redesigned, renovated and extended to make it a “modern, friendly administrative building”. In front of the town hall there are clinker sculptures of nuns – an artistic reminder of the former Cistercian nuns’ abbey from which the town originated.

Warin was first mentioned in documents in 1178. In 1229, the Bishop of Schwerin began building a "summer residence," and in 1248, the Bishop's Castle was recorded as being under construction.
