The impressive structure was built in 1469 as a storage building with a stone ground floor. The building is 17 meters wide, 14.5 meters deep, and 18 meters high. The building was designated as the State Granary in 1495 when Duke Eberhard I, following the First State Ordinance published in 1495, decreed that four granaries, one of which was to be located in Markgröningen, were to be built for storing grain for times of need. The ducal master builder Heinrich Schickhardt came to Markgröningen in 1619 for major renovation work on this building. At the beginning of the 19th century, its use changed. The State Granary initially housed the spinning mill of the hospital, then served as a dormitory for prisoners of the correctional and workhouse located in the former castle. Since 1872, it housed the dormitories for the female students of the teacher training college. Subsequently, a dormitory of the Internationaler Bund für Sozialarbeit was housed here until 2003. In 2010, major conversion measures were carried out for residential use.

Built as an imperial castle around 1240, it was further expanded from around 1250 onward. In 1481, under Count Eberhard the Beard, it was expanded and converted into a palace, where the old Imperial Storm flag was kept. Partially demolished in 1724. The stones were used, among other things, for the construction of the Ludwigsburg Residence. In 1808, a new building was constructed: a penitentiary, later an orphanage. From 1873, it served as a teachers' college, now a secondary school.

Built in 1491 as a stately, five-aisled wine press with four wine presses, the naturally curved head and foot braces are already mortised. Wine presses require a good supply of fresh air, which the preserved window openings provide here. The building is decorated in medieval colors.

The town hall was built in 1441 as a merchant's hall, council building, and courthouse. One stands before a half-timbered building whose distinctive style is impressively evident and its inherent beauty immediately reveals itself. The building's aesthetics are complemented by a monumentality that inspires awe. Photogrammetric measurements taken in the 1960s show the building's respectable dimensions: The width in plan is between 15.46 m and 15.47 m, the length between 24.93 m and 24.96 m, and the height of the building, depending on the ridge point, measures between 26.24 m and 26.41 m.

Pandora in front of the VR-Bank in Markgröningen, 2012-2013, by Karl-Henning Seemann: The ancient theme of Pandora was chosen by the artist twice for a bronze figure erected in public space: once in Hilden from 1995 to 1998 as a counterpart to the "Hurry Shopper," and the second time more than 20 years later in front of the VR-Bank in Markgröningen. Here, her box is just opening—the gift from the gods as a symbol of the greatest happiness and the greatest risk.
