The ancient Virunum was founded as a systematically laid-out city on the Zollfeld under Emperor Claudius around the middle of the 1st century AD, succeeding the settlement on Magdalensberg. Virunum was the capital of the Roman province of Noricum and administered a territory covering one-third of the present-day Austrian state area. The amphitheater is the only building of the city of Virunum that has been restored and made accessible to the public. During the summer months, the amphitheater is regularly used for historical performances. Further information: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virunum, https://landesmuseum.ktn.gv.at/standorte/virunum

The two mighty towers of the Cathedral are already an "eye-catcher" from afar and a familiar sight for many. The pilgrimage church houses numerous works of art from all eras, from antiquity to the present day. Verdict: absolutely worth seeing!

Schloss Meiselberg was probably built in the 16th century. It is privately owned and not publicly accessible. The long arcade corridor leading to the entrance and the coloring of the facades, which are partially marbled, are remarkable in the external design.
