L'eremo di San Venanzio si trova lungo il fiume Aterno, nel comune di Raiano (AQ), all'interno della Riserva Naturale Regionale Gole di San Venanzio. Lo si può raggiungere dalla strada panoramica che collega Raiano a Vittorito. L'eremo è collocato in una magnifica posizione tra le pareti rocciose delle Gole, al di sopra del fiume Aterno, interamente circondato da vegetazione, dotata di vialetti e piazzole attrezzate per i visitatori. La chiesa è dedicata a San Venanzio di Camerino, che si convertì al cristianesimo verso la metà del 200 e che si ritirò in questo eremo con il maestro Porfirio. Nel 259 venne arrestato e martirizzato nella città di Camerino. Agli inizi del '900 all'eremo si recò anche Benedetto Croce, che lasciò alcuni appunti sulla sua visita. L'eremo è costituito da una chiesa, risalente al XV - XVI secolo e ristrutturata alla fine del ‘600, dalla quale si accede alla loggia realizzata a cavallo del fiume ed al di sotto della quale si trova l'eremo vero e proprio abitato dal santo. L'edificio della chiesa è a pianta rettangolare coperta con volta a botte. All'interno, oltre all'altare maggiore, troviamo due altari laterali dedicati a San Pietro Celestino e a San Giovanni Battista. Ai lati dell'altare maggiore due porticine conducono alla loggia e ad un ambiente adibito a sagrestia, dove ancora oggi si conservano tracce di affreschi quattrocenteschi. Posto davanti all'altare maggiore, protetto da una balaustra, c'è l'accesso alla Scala Santa, la quale, completamente scavata nella roccia, conduce ad una piccola grotta identificabile con la parte più antica della struttura, dove i fedeli vedono nelle forme della roccia l'impronta del corpo di San Venanzio. Il luogo è conosciuto come la "crocetta", e consiste in una piccola cavità dove, secondo la tradizione, il Santo si raccoglieva in preghiera. A sinistra dell'ingresso è posto una specie di sedile, noto come "sedile di papa Celestino o di Santa Rina", sul quale sono visibili tracce di un affresco. La tradizione ritiene che adagiandosi su questi posti i pellegrini abbiano benefici per dolori reumatici.
