It is difficult to find the entrance as it is hidden by vegetation and both the ascent and descent are in poor condition. Unfortunately it is the only road that can be traveled by bike. Requires maintenance and official reporting

The only way to cross the river. The bridge is run-down but for bicycles no problem :) The path is a bit hidden and you'll have to push your bike for a few meters.

Nova Siri Paese is the historical and cultural center of the two poles of Nova Siri (the other is Nova Siri Marina which is located on the sea). Here there is a wealth of archaeological sites and historical jewels dating back, above all, to Magna Graecia.

Cool spot, easy to miss. Look for a narrow and overgrown path.

Panoramic road with little traffic near Nova Siri, a valid alternative to the busier and less scenic state road.

This bridge is located along an old road linking Rocca Imperiale and Canna. The road in question has a surface in bad condition, a little dangerous for the descent, but with hardly any traffic and with very few dogs. The slope is constant around 5% for 7 km.

The terrain around Rotondella is quite varied. Routes can range from gentle coastal paths to challenging climbs with significant elevation gain, especially as you approach the surrounding hills and mountains.
Yes, there are several easier routes. For instance, the Policoro, between lido and beaches route is an easy 18.6 km (11.6 miles) ride along coastal areas, perfect for a relaxed outing. Another gentle option is the Water fountain loop from Nova Siri-Rotondella, which is 31 km (19.3 miles) with minimal elevation.
For experienced cyclists seeking a challenge, routes like From Policoro to Tursi – loop tour offer significant elevation gain over 54.7 km (34.0 miles). Another demanding option is From Policoro to Montalbano Jonico, a difficult 55.1 km (34.3 miles) path connecting coastal areas with inland towns and hills.
Rotondella, known as the 'Balcony of the Ionian Sea,' offers breathtaking panoramic views from various points, including Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II. Cycling routes often provide vistas of the Ionian coastline, the Gulf of Taranto, and the green hills. You can also explore the Sinni river valley, and near Montalbano Jonico, the unique, lunar-like clay formations of the Calanchi are a sight to behold. For a specific viewpoint, consider the View of the Sinni Valley.

The Basilicata region generally enjoys a Mediterranean climate. Spring (April-May) and Autumn (September-October) are often ideal for cycling, offering pleasant temperatures and less intense sun than the summer months. During these seasons, you can comfortably enjoy the diverse landscapes from the coast to the hills.
Absolutely. The region is rich in history. You might pass by the Baronial Palace of Scanzano Jonico or the historic Rabatana Historic Quarter in Tursi. Further afield, the impressive Rocca Imperiale Castle is also accessible from the region. These sites offer fascinating glimpses into the area's past.
While Rotondella itself is a hilltop village, the broader Basilicata region is less populated, and public transport options might be limited, especially for reaching specific trailheads. It's advisable to check local bus schedules or consider driving to a starting point like Policoro, which is a common base for many routes and offers better accessibility.
In Rotondella and surrounding towns, you can usually find public parking areas. For routes starting in larger coastal towns like Policoro or Nova Siri, there are often designated parking spots near the lidos or town centers. It's recommended to check specific starting points for available parking facilities.
Many routes pass through or near small towns and villages where you can find local cafes, trattorias, and shops to refuel. The agricultural landscapes also mean you might encounter opportunities to sample local produce. Coastal areas like Policoro and Marina di Nova Siri offer more dining options, especially during peak seasons.
Rotondella offers a unique blend of stunning panoramic views, from the Ionian Sea to the Pollino mountains, combined with diverse terrain. The region's less populated nature means you'll often find tranquil, almost deserted secondary roads, providing a peaceful cycling experience. The mix of coastal paths, agricultural routes, and challenging hill climbs, all within reach of a charming hilltop village, sets it apart.
