The cycle path around the lake is currently being resurfaced with asphalt. Afterwards, it will be suitable for cyclists and especially inline skaters. 👍🏻

Whenever possible, we go to the beach. It's simply fantastic and the water is excellent. Highly recommended. We also feel at home at Hippo's Beach Bar. Good food and good value for money. Parking is €1 for two hours and €3 for the whole day. Keep it up, and it's unbeatable.

Zeißig, Upper Sorbian. Ćisk is a village on the green in Upper Lusatia and is part of the recognized Sorbian settlement area. Zeißig was first mentioned in documents in 1248. The Zeißighof has been the cultural and recreational center of the village of Zeißig for many years. The farm was built as a Sorbian farm at the end of the 19th century in a style typical of the region, with a brick facade and the typical brick basket arch over the entrance. After extensive renovation, the Zeißighof is a meeting place where Sorbian life and rural crafts can be experienced firsthand in their original form. One of the building's special features is the over 100-year-old wood-fired oven, in which Zeißig wood-fired bread is baked on special occasions. Zeißig clubs demonstrate Sorbian customs as part of themed events. Source: https://www.sorben-tourismus.com/zeissighof.html Photo: Uwe Schulz / Energiefabrik Knappenrode

The Knappenrode factory fire station is part of the briquette factory and was built in 1954 due to the high risk of fire. The vehicle hall, with a gently sloping gable roof positioned at the eaves, has four large gates facing the street and three gates at the rear. A flat connector with a gable roof is attached to the hose tower. This is where the hose washing basin is located. The hoses are filled with water before cleaning to detect any damage. The hoses are pre-treated in a container in a water bath and then cleaned in the hose washing machine. The hose tower has a concrete supporting structure with a pull-up hanger for the hoses to be dried. The tower, with its flat tent roof, features an observation gallery with windows and a weather vane with a hammer and mallet, dated 1954. Everything, including the gates and all iron ornaments, is original, preserved down to the last detail. The construction was made of hard-fired bricks, a material typical of the region. The building is still used today by the Knappenrode Volunteer Fire Department. Source: https://www.kuladig.de/Objektansicht/BKM-30700021 Photo: Uwe Schulz/Energiefabrik Knappenrode

Today's Knappenrode Community Center, formerly Werminghoff, was formerly used as a school. The school's rooms were also used for doctor's offices, as the mayor's office, for church services, and by the choir. Modernized and restored, the Heimatstil building is now a focal point in the town. Photo: Uwe Schulz-EnergiefabrikKnappenrode
