You’ll discover a varied, typically Lapland forest with spruces, pines, young plantations, and untouched sections. Between coniferous swamps and open moorlands, quiet paths and striking boulders give the landscape its distinctive character.

At the confluence of the Ounasjoki and Kemijoki rivers near Rovaniemi, the floating tower offers prime views of bird migration. Over 150 species – from tufted ducks to little grebes – can be spotted here. A nature trail leads directly to the tower, which is relocated to the shore in winter. A true hotspot for nature and bird lovers!

The suspension bridge is exciting. It swings a lot and the planks creak with every step.

A lookout tower with a wonderful view over the forests of Lapland. But be careful of snow and ice :D

Starting point for several smaller hiking routes, as well as a small museum in the back about wood processing from times gone by/decades. There is a café inside the building, but we even had a very tasty salmon soup with mulberry tea there. The hosts (an older couple) were very friendly and accommodating. A detour after a hike is definitely recommended.
