„History reminds us,” writes Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in a newspaper article on the occasion of the 'Day of Democratic History' (first celebrated in Germany on March 18, 2026), „how valuable freedom and democracy, human dignity and social justice are – and how laboriously and UNDER WHAT SACRIFICES THEY WERE ONCE WON. But the past also shows what people can achieve with their commitment, what walls they can tear down, and on what fragile foundations authoritarian regimes sometimes stand.”

The quarry is located north of the town near the railway line and had a rail connection that was served from the station. Trechtingshausen had a ship loading station on the Rhine, to which the Amalienhöhe mine built a 7.6-kilometer-long cable car to transport manganese ore. The cable car was closed in 1967... https://bf-r2.zielbahnhof.de/trechtingshausen.htm
