Dijkwater is located between Dreischor and Sir Janspolder and the area is approximately 180 hectares. The Dijkwater is the youngest polder on Schouwen-Duiveland.
The reclamation became a fact after the flood disaster of 1953. In 1954 the time had come and the Dijkwater creek area was created. At first the land was used for agriculture, but the northern part of the polder that borders the Grevelingen is now a State Nature Reserve.
