    At this location, the Dyle crosses the old city walls. In the 15th century, an impressive complex with 7 water mills demanded here at Zandpoortvest. These were of great importance to the cloth industry. The wooden sluice house regulated the water level for the mills. Around 1915 the mill house was transformed into a private house and snack bar.
