The Bavarian Ministry of Finance and Home Affairs is spending around 500,000 euros on this measure. The aim was to present the restored fountain as early as May 2020. Very beautiful fountain in front of the residence.
On March 12, 1891, Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria, who was born in Würzburg, celebrated his 70th birthday. In order to pay homage to him with dignity, considerations about a suitable gift began a few months earlier. The "Lower Franconian District Committee for the Celebration of the Seventieth Birthday of His Royal Highness the Prince Regent", which was made up of around a hundred respected representatives of the Lower Franconia and Aschaffenburg districts, decided in favor of a monumental fountain on the residence square.
