It is located at the same stopping point of the Zittau narrow-gauge railway from Zittau to Oybin. Until 1834 the mill was called "Einsiedelmühle". The well-known name Schurfmühle and the old name Schurf for Niederoybin are intended to indicate mining. Legend has it that a monk was brought here by the devil, resulting in the name Teufelsmühle.
