Hiking

In 1208, the Counts of Schwarzburg received the former imperial city of Saalfeld as a pledge. The tower castle Hoher Schwarm was hardly used as a residence, however; it was the home of the castle guards, members of the lower nobility, whose job it was to ensure law and order.

Hiking

This landmark of the city has a controversial history. No one really knows what it should be, but it is clear that it was never completed and several builders have tried. Today, the site is used for celebrations and other events.
