Hiking

Up until the 18th century, there were bear hunts in the Upper Palatinate Forest. The last occurrence of a bear around Bärnau is attested in 1718. That year, outside the city gates, a girl was killed by a bear. The memory of this tragedy is still kept alive today by the wayside shrine "Siehdichfiar" (Be careful).
