You can still take this smaller round tour under your tires after work - with 1,220 meters of altitude difference, it will still make you sweat a lot. The train stations in Denzlingen or Waldkirch are ideal starting points, from where you can start cycling straight away.
From Denzlingen it starts out flat and you can easily get into the romantic valley paths before you start the steep climb. You climb the Kandel, without question the route is one of the most beautiful and toughest passes in Germany. As one of the highest elevations in the southern Black Forest, it magically attracts cyclists. Not least because of the breathtaking view that you can enjoy from above: over the Rhine plain, the Kaiserstuhl and on a clear day to the Vosges.
The descent is the order of the day on the last stretch and you can just let your bike run on the best asphalt and enjoy the speed.

Today the baked Linzer cake should finally go to my racing bike friend in the Glottertal... I couldn't resist panning over the candelabra. Beastly wind in the last third and cool up there, half frozen in the valley, I could warm myself with a warm coffee with milk, the energy came back and the afternoon sun sent me home in a roundabout way... it was nice, but the training condition after an 8-week break. .. noticeably 😜
Wow.. haven't felt like this in a long time.. A mixture of too little sleep.. heat.. exhaustion.. the beginning of vacation is due 🫣 Just the fact that I read that the Kandel from Waldkirch is passable again made me sit up and get down to earth.. a heavy mountain 🗻.. it has to be used a few more times to check it a bit 😉 The air at the top was amazing... worth a weary ride 🫠
Today I drove up the Kandel from Glottertal because I wanted to enjoy a detour straight after work...it's still so summery... The departure was a punishment... She went to Waldkirch 🥴.. completely shaken, the road quality leaves a lot to be desired, I had to get some suppleness into my body. So to Siegelau... took the clever little road and the 18% headed home via the Linde... what an incredible summer 🌻🌄🌞
