Farmer Berthold from Kablow – identical to the Farmer Berthold sculpture. One highlight, two names, two red dots. Same figure, same location, but twice the chance of likes. Consistent for collectors of Pioneer Points, but rather… creative for the map overview.

The approximately 2.30-meter-tall oak sculpture "Farmer Berthold from Kablow" was created by chainsaw artist Roland Karl. The clever man from Kablow got into a fight with the knight Syben from Senzig and was ultimately hanged. However, he twice escaped death through cunning and was ultimately pardoned. He was able to return to his family.

Without the Rentmeister family, the wonderful circular hiking trail through the Tiergarten park, with its impressive sculptures and the bridge over the Fanggraben, wouldn't exist. Thank you! Volunteering makes a difference - join in.

The majority are easy (around 72 routes) or moderate (around 62 routes), with a few more challenging options (6 routes) for experienced hikers and their dogs.
The Dahme Lakeland's landscape, shaped by glacial periods, features diverse terrain. You can expect paths through dense pine forests, wide heathlands, and marshy areas. Many trails also follow the shores of the region's numerous lakes and rivers, offering varied surfaces from sandy paths to forest floors. Elevation changes are generally gentle, making it suitable for most dogs.
Yes, within the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park, which is a protected area, it is generally required to keep dogs on a leash to protect wildlife and other visitors. Always check local signage for specific regulations, especially in nature reserves or sensitive habitats. Respecting these rules helps preserve the natural environment for everyone.
You and your dog can explore a variety of natural attractions. Many trails lead past the region's extensive network of lakes, such as Lake Tornow or Pätzer Vordersee. You might also encounter unique natural monuments like the Briesensee and Klingeberg Nature Reserve or the Klingespring Spring. The region also features charming forest areas like the Tiergarten Königs Wusterhausen Nature Reserve.
While many trails are family-friendly, those suitable for strollers with dogs require flatter, well-maintained paths. Look for routes around the lakes or designated theme trails like the "Kröger'schen Rundweg" which are often designed with easy access in mind. Always check the route details on komoot for surface information to ensure it's suitable for a stroller.
The Dahme Lakeland is beautiful year-round. Spring and autumn offer pleasant temperatures and vibrant scenery, with fewer crowds. Summer is ideal for combining hikes with swimming in the lakes, but be mindful of potential heat and ensure your dog has access to water. Winter can be magical with snow, but some paths might be icy or less accessible. Always check weather conditions before heading out.
Yes, the region is known for its numerous circular routes, many of which are perfect for dogs. For example, you can enjoy a pleasant loop around Krimnick Lake from Königs Wusterhausen, or a longer moderate hike like the View of Klein Köriser See loop from Stintgraben. These routes allow you to start and end at the same point, often with convenient parking.
Ticks are present in the Dahme Lakeland, especially during warmer months. It's advisable to check your dog thoroughly after each hike and consider tick prevention. Forest fire danger can be high during dry periods, particularly in the extensive pine forests. Always observe local warnings and avoid open fires. During periods of high fire risk, some areas might have restricted access.
With over 70 interconnected lakes, the Dahme Lakeland offers many opportunities for dogs to cool off. While not all beaches are officially designated for dogs, many natural lake shores and quieter spots allow dogs to swim. Always look for signage and be considerate of other visitors. The clear waters of lakes like Lake Tornow are particularly inviting.
Many towns and villages in the Dahme Lakeland are accessible by regional trains and buses from Berlin, and some routes start directly from these locations. For example, Königs Wusterhausen is a good starting point for trails like the Hussar Sculpture at Husareneck loop. Check local public transport schedules and rules regarding dogs on board before your trip.
The Dahme Lakeland is highly rated by the komoot community, with an average score of 4.5 stars. Reviewers often praise the region's tranquil atmosphere, the abundance of clear lakes, and the well-maintained paths through varied forests and heathlands.
