August 26, 2026, Teichlandschaft Buchwäldchen-Muckwar

Currently (end of August 2026), many of the ponds unfortunately present a sad picture, containing only large puddles or no water at all. Only the Großer Brauereiteich seems to have a passable water level. Let's hope that the ponds recover and the full diversity of animals and plants becomes visible again.

Very beautiful place with a surprising view and, depending on the season, plenty of blueberries or blooming heather.

August 23, 2026, Lugteich Pond

From Cabeler Straße, the path leads across a meadow used as pasture. The entrance to the thicket is very difficult to find. Afterwards, an adventurous, partly very littered path follows. At two points, you can catch a glimpse of the ponds. Especially from the east side of the ponds and the bridge, the path is much easier to walk. Definitely something for trackers ;)

The Spreewald (Lower Sorbian: Błota, "the swamps") is an extensive lowland area and a historical cultural landscape in southeastern Brandenburg. Its main feature is the natural branching of the Spree River, which has been significantly expanded by canals. As a floodplain and moor landscape, it is of supra-regional importance for nature conservation and is protected as a biosphere reserve (see Spreewald Biosphere Reserve). The Spreewald as a cultural landscape was decisively shaped by the Sorbs. The area is one of the most well-known and popular tourist destinations in the state of Brandenburg.[1] A total of 222.8 kilometers in the Upper Spreewald and 45.4 kilometers in the Lower Spreewald are classified as state waterways.
