Visible from miles away, and far from ancient, it represents one of the symbols of the mountain. For the more athletic and risk-takers there is also an iron staircase planted inside which would allow you to climb to the top of the tower. It is strongly not recommended judging by the stability of the structure.

After 3 years, I confirm the presence of dogs along this stretch. I met two Maremma shepherds on the side of the road: the first only barked as I passed by at high speed (downhill), the second was stopped on the threshold of his property on an uphill stretch and did not move a paw as I passed. They didn't seem offensive, but with the narrow and ruined road, you risk finding them in your wheels.
