Quaint, original decor, and extremely cozy. With a great, unusual beer selection and extremely friendly, knowledgeable service, it's been a worthwhile stop several times.

Burgeis is a fraction of the municipality of Mals with 852 inhabitants and is nestled on the mountainside on the Malser Haide. Burgeis in South Tyrol was first documented in 1160; the name is presumed to go back to an old Roman fortification built to protect the "Via Claudia Augusta". In Burgeis, you will find not only the Fürstenburg, built by Bishop Konrad of Chur in the 13th century, but also the Benedictine monastery of Marienberg with its Baroque church, crypt, and valuable frescoes from the 12th century. Located directly at the foot of the Watles ski and hiking mountain, in close proximity to Mals, and with a magnificent panoramic view over the entire Upper Vinschgau valley basin, the village of Burgeis proves to be an ideal holiday destination in South Tyrol for all seasons. The medieval complex of Fürstenburg in Burgeis was built by Bishop Konrad of Chur in the 13th century. Some alterations were made in the 16th and 17th centuries. Particularly worth seeing is the massive keep with a wall thickness of three meters, which, together with the surrounding defensive and high castle, forms the oldest part of the building. In 1996, the tower collapsed and was subsequently expanded by the then director Georg Flora. Today, Fürstenburg houses a vocational school for agriculture and forestry.
