"The Greenway" in London refers primarily to the Northern Outfall Sewer, a Victorian sewer now used as the Greenway cycle and footpath. It is a historic structure, built by Joseph Bazalgette following the Great Stink of 1858, and functions as part of a larger sewage infrastructure.

Pedestrian-friendly and an enjoyable route / Greenway to cycle with children, linking Beckton with Victoria Park. Connections via canal towpaths for the River Lea, Regents, Grand Union Canal, and The Limbouse Cut.

Currently scaffolded but still an amazing site. If it's on your right then take a stroll down to Bow Back Rivers (path on the right) along a beautiful path and community orchard that takes you to Three Mills Studios. Be warned, it gets very muddy when it's rained!

On the bridge you cross the meridian line! And see Abbey pumping station (looks oriental), grade 2 Victorian building, part of Bazzagetes system to remove waste from London in 1868. Also see an orange metal sculpture looking like a shell - it was once part of pumping machinery.

Fairly wide and lit under a river tunnel. Note - incline upwards going south. Lift at either end but not work the day we weren't 09/03/24. Spiral steps at each end, with more steps North end than south.

Spiral staircase down to the tunnel. Lift available, but was not working on 09/03/24. Many steps to get to tunnel, handrails for aid.

Three Mills Island is part of the oldest recorded example of a tidal mill system, and over the years its mills have ground it all, from flour to gunpowder to grain for gin.
