Magic nightride! Thnx for sharing this route. I started this ride anti clockwise 20.30hr in late June. Next to the great views over the lake at sunset it started to get dark when passing Liciano Niccone (So bring some good light with you) From there the last climb trough the forrest was pure magical. At both sides of the road the forest was full of fireflies. Quit some stunning experience!

Probably the most panoramic point of Trasimeno. The route from the lake towards Magione is a challenging climb, not long but with interesting slopes. The route from Magione - Montecolognola towards the lake is a spectacular descent from which it seems to literally dive into Trasimeno. The islands, the villages, the hills around enchant you in a warm embrace. Unmissable!

A beautiful place to see, and where it is pleasant to stop for a refreshing break. There is a fresh water fountain, a nice kiosk right in front of the lake, a point from which you can take beautiful photos of the lake and the islands. Many cyclists pass by here and it is also an opportunity to have a quick chat, before setting off again

Città di Castello has had many names during its existence. It was founded by the Umbrian tribe and then subjugated by the Romans who called it Tifernum Tiberinum. During the Middle Ages it was conquered by the Lombards and they changed its name to Castrum Felicitatis, the camp of happiness. In the 12th century the city was organized as a municipality and shortly afterwards took the name of Civitas Castelli which then became the current Città di Castello. Don't miss the main square with the town hall and the cathedral with its characteristic cylindrical bell tower. Città di Castello is also the birthplace of the artist Alberto Burri to whom a museum has been dedicated in the building of a former tobacconist.

From San Feliciano you can go back towards Magione passing through San Savino, tackling a small stretch with interesting but not excessive slopes. The lake view is worth the (small) effort.

Città di Castello is the main center of the upper Tiber valley and one of the main cities in Umbria. It is the episcopal seat of the diocese of Città di Castello and has a rich artistic and cultural heritage, linked to the Vitelli family and artists such as Raffaello and Alberto Burri.
