Amazing tour and the view is stunning. Unfortunately the path leaving to Tennerifes Matterhorn is blocked about 500 meter due to landslide, but dont give up!! Instead of taking the trail showed on the kommoot gps from the village to the iconic mountain just take a slightly different route. Walk instead to the viewpoint well signed (just follow the paved path going up in the village) from the viewpoint take the stairs down and now you are on track again. Highly rekommandated route -but would not go with small children because I am a bit afraid of hights. Anyway the trail felt safe doing a Sunny day.

Tenerife is known as the "Island of Eternal Spring," making it an ideal destination for hiking year-round. The mild temperatures generally allow for comfortable outdoor activities in any season. However, for higher altitude trails like those in Teide National Park, summer offers clearer skies, while spring and autumn provide pleasant temperatures for coastal and forest walks.
For hiking in Sur De Tenerife, especially at higher altitudes like Teide, it's advisable to wear layers. Even in summer, temperatures can drop significantly at elevation, and weather can change quickly. Sturdy hiking boots are essential for varied terrain, and sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen) is crucial due to the strong sun. For Teide, consider bringing a warm jacket even in summer, as well as plenty of water.

While popular spots attract many visitors, Sur De Tenerife has numerous trails that offer a more secluded experience. Exploring routes within the Anaga Rural Park, beyond the main tourist hubs, can lead to quieter paths through ancient laurel forests. Similarly, some of the coastal trails, particularly those away from major resorts, can provide a peaceful hiking experience with stunning ocean views.
Public transport, primarily buses (guaguas), connects many towns and villages in Sur De Tenerife, making some trailheads accessible. Routes to areas like Teide National Park and Anaga Rural Park often have bus services, though frequencies may vary. It's recommended to check local bus schedules (e.g., Titsa) in advance to plan your journey to specific starting points.
Many popular trailheads and natural parks in Sur De Tenerife offer designated parking areas. However, during peak season or on weekends, these can fill up quickly, especially in well-known locations like Teide National Park or popular starting points in Anaga. It's advisable to arrive early or consider alternative transport options if parking is a concern.
